In cooperation with the Quichua indigenous people living there, it is cultivated sustainably and traditionally in the middle of the jungle, freshly harvested and processed to preserve its value. Machachyn (Matchachin in the wording) means in the Quichua language "other world" and "to be in contact with this place or state". Achieve this by drinking lots of Guayusa tea. The leaves of the guayusa tree contain a lot of caffeine and other stimulants - all the more astonishing that guayusa is not only used as a stimulant but also as a means of dream induction by the Quichua. Thus, the hunters and warriors drink the tea in the early morning hours to sharpen their senses and to be strong and awake on the hunt.
Guayusa is always drunk communally from wooden bowls. Stories are told, accompanied by flutes, drums and singing.
